Mindful Mediation
Mediation does not have to be difficult. It only requires all parties to be honest. Insight Communication's Mindful Mediation services strive to create positive, long-lasting outcomes for all parties. To achieve this, we work individually with each side in the mediation to understand and document criteria for success. These include:
- non-negotiable issues
- crucial disputes (very specific!)
- core needs which must be met
- bargaining assets
- optional goals
- alternative paths to success
The process of each side, and each person in the mediation, becoming fully, honestly aware of the above items as they pertain to each individual, and to each party in the process, is the mindful core of this work. Without this, we are flying blind. With this, we are able to move patiently through the issues, and examine each one as calmly as possible.
Once each side has established their baseline principles and needs, we bring the parties together and begin working through the crucial disputes, either singly or in related, mutally agreed upon sets.
Frequent time apart for each group is allowed to update the issues, needs and understandings. This mindful step allows clarity to emerge, and better decisions to be made.
In mindful mediation, there are no "right" parties and "wrong" parties. We fully believe that every individual is striving at all times to best meet their own needs, and the needs of their closest loved ones. By removing the stigma of blame, mediation moves more quickly, and both parties can achieve more of what they need to move forward.
